““We were absolutely blown away with the Garden Design Lite plans Jo suggested. We all had an emotional response to the drawings as they captured exactly the feeling we had described and allow us to evolve our current garden through time as budget is tight.
During the call, it was clear that she had obviously already spent time reviewing what we had sent and researching soil type, sun conditions. She was very professional, was able to pull out other more subtle requirements and was warm and friendly throughout.
We would not hesitate to recommend this service or Jo to anyone.””

…This might help, otherwise book a chat! I love talking about gardens!

The video call we have before I start designing is specifically to avoid this. I'll ask about how you want to feel in your garden, not just what you want to put in it — and I'll share initial ideas to make sure we're aligned before I pick up a pencil. You'll receive two different concept sketches exploring different directions, so there's genuine choice. That said, this isn't a revision-based service — the two concepts are your options, and you choose which direction resonates.
-
Most landscapers are brilliant at building things, but design is a different skill. They might suggest what they know how to build or what materials they have trade accounts with.
I'm not selling you a patio — I'm thinking about how you move through the space, where the light falls at different times of day, what views you want to frame or hide, and how to create a garden that actually fits your life. I've also got RHS horticultural training, so the planting recommendations are based on what will genuinely thrive in your conditions, not just what's available at the garden centre that week.
-
You'll have sketches, a mood board, a video walkthrough explaining my thinking, and plant suggestions — everything you need to brief a landscaper or start tackling it yourself. Some clients take the concepts and run with them. Others use them to get quotes from landscapers. And if you decide you want to take it further with full technical drawings, there's an upgrade path to our Complete Garden Design service within 30 days of delivery.
-
Not at all for this service. Garden Design Lite was specifically created to work remotely. You'll send me photos, measurements and a video walkthrough of your garden, and we'll have a proper video call to discuss everything. I've designed gardens across the UK this way. If you're local to the West Midlands and want site visits and the full technical package, that's our Complete Garden Design service instead.
-
Two hand-drawn concept sketches exploring different layout options. A mood board showing the look and feel. A video from me walking you through the thinking behind each design. Plant suggestions suited to your conditions and maintenance preferences. Everything delivered digitally within 72 hours…. yes within 3 days of our video call.

It's for the thinking, not just the drawings. You're paying for 10 years of design experience, RHS horticultural training, and the problem-solving that goes into making a garden actually work — not just look nice in a sketch. The concepts give you a clear direction and the confidence to move forward, whether that's briefing a landscaper, doing it yourself in phases, or deciding to invest in full technical plans. Most clients tell me the clarity alone was worth it after years of being stuck.
-
That's exactly where professional design earns its keep. A flat rectangular lawn is easy. It's the awkward gardens — sloping, narrow, north-facing, overlooked — where design thinking makes the biggest difference. Send me your photos and measurements and I'll tell you honestly if Garden Design Lite can handle it, or if you'd be better served by the Complete service with a proper site survey.
Book a chat with me if you're not sure.
-
Full payment upfront before we begin. Once paid, you'll receive a link to complete your garden questionnaire, upload your photos and measurements, and book your video call with me.
-
Yes. If you start with Garden Design Lite and decide you want full technical drawings, CAD plans and a detailed planting scheme, you can upgrade to Complete Garden Design within 30 days of delivery. The Lite fee contributes towards it, so you're not paying twice for the same thinking.
